The Trades Our Territories Cover

Seven trades where the search behaviour and the job values make pay-per-lead work.

What these trades have in common

Somebody has a problem, they search for a solution plus a suburb, and they ring the first credible business that answers. That behaviour is what makes pay-per-lead work. Where it is absent — where customers deliberate for months, compare on brand, or buy on referral only — the model struggles no matter how good the marketing is.

Below is what the lead flow actually looks like in each vertical we currently run.

Tree services and lopping

The largest part of our network. Demand is weather-driven and spiky: a storm front through Sydney's north shore or south east Queensland produces a week of urgent removal enquiries, then it goes quiet. Removals and dangerous limb work carry the job value; hedge trimming and small pruning jobs do not, which is why most operators ask us to filter them out.

Enquiries frequently arrive with a photo attached and a note that a branch is over the roof. Those close at a high rate if you answer quickly and are worthless if you ring back on Thursday.

Demolition and site clearing

Low volume, high value, long lead time. A residential knockdown enquiry is worth far more than a tree job, but there are far fewer of them and the customer is often a builder or a developer rather than a homeowner. Expect fewer leads per month and expect to quote properly rather than over the phone.

The competitive field is thin in most Australian cities, which makes the search positions easier to hold than in the crowded trades.

Hot water and plumbing

Genuinely urgent and genuinely year-round, with a hard winter peak. A failed hot water system is a same-day purchase decision, so callback speed dominates everything else — this is the vertical where the AI answering service pays for itself fastest.

Job values are moderate, which means volume matters and the cost per lead needs to sit lower than it would for demolition. Emergency plumbing outside hours converts extremely well and is worth staffing for.

Car detailing and paint correction

A discretionary purchase rather than an emergency, so the search intent is softer and the buyer will compare. Volume is decent in metro areas, job values range from modest wash-and-vac work up to multi-day ceramic coating and correction jobs, and the spread between those is wide.

Seasonal lift before Christmas and before car sales. Operators who take only the high-end correction work do better on cost per lead than those taking everything.

Glazing and glass replacement

Split cleanly into two streams. Emergency board-up and replacement after a break-in or breakage is urgent, converts fast and often involves an insurer. Planned work — shower screens, splashbacks, balustrades, double glazing — behaves more like a renovation purchase with a longer decision.

Both are worth having, but they need different callback handling, and it is worth telling us which you want weighted.

Landscaping and garden care

Steady rather than spiky, with a clear spring surge. The trap here is that the enquiry mix ranges from a fortnightly mow at very low value to a full design and construct job worth tens of thousands. If you want the construction work, say so and we will target it, because a stream of mowing enquiries at a construction lead price is a bad deal for everyone.

Flood, fire and water damage restoration

The most urgent category we run. Enquiries follow weather events and arrive at hours nobody wants to work. Job values are high and much of the work is insurance-funded, which changes the sales process considerably — you are often persuading an assessor as much as a homeowner.

Volume is unpredictable by definition. A quiet quarter followed by a flooded fortnight is normal and should be budgeted for rather than treated as a failure.

Choosing to go in

Whichever vertical you are in, do the arithmetic first using what a lead is worth, then read exclusive versus shared leads so you know what you are being sold. If you would rather build your own presence than rent ours, local SEO is the alternative.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

My trade is not on this list. Can you still help?

Possibly, but it means building a territory from scratch rather than licensing one that already ranks, which takes months and changes the commercial arrangement. Tell us the trade and the area and we will be straight about whether the search volume justifies it. Some trades simply do not get searched for.

Why these trades and not others?

Three things have to line up: enough monthly search volume in a defined area, urgent intent so the customer calls rather than researching for weeks, and a job value high enough that one won job pays for a month of enquiries. These seven consistently have all three. Plenty of trades have only two.

Can I take more than one trade in my area?

Yes, if you genuinely perform both. Plenty of operators do tree removal and landscaping, or glazing and general maintenance. What we will not do is licence a trade to a business that intends to subcontract the work out, because lead quality collapses the moment the person quoting is not the person doing the job.

How big is a territory?

It varies with population density. In metro Perth or Sydney a territory might be a dozen postcodes. In a regional area it could be a whole council district plus surrounds, because the search volume needs a wider catchment to add up. We define it in postcodes so there is no ambiguity about whose lead it is.
